The Eichmann Cablepod
The
CablePod™ is a totally new approach to
a multi-way binding post connector, where every
aspect of sound quality has been considered.
This involves:
Creating the optimum shape, mass and thickness
of the conductive element to enhance electron
flow. Incorporating high conductive materials
such as Tellurium Copper or pure Silver in the
construction. Attention to the mechanical aspects
of the design to ensure the ultimate connection
of any spade, banana plug or bare wire connection.
The
result is a Binding Post that offers superior
sound quality for amplifiers and speakers –
from low-end to high-end.
What you
should know about Binding Posts
Most Binding Posts are made from gold plated
brass or phosphor bronze with a conductivity
rating of often less than 28% IACS (International
Annealed Copper Standard). As a comparison,
the high purity copper used in most speaker
cables has a conductivity rating of 100% IACS.
Because
of this low conductivity, we believe standard
Binding Posts compromise electron flow and stifle
the performance of amplifiers and speakers.
The
large mass of metal used in many Binding Posts
can also introduce phase errors and smearing
due to skin effect - where high frequency signals
traveling on the surface of the conductor are
conveyed faster than low frequency signals traveling
at varying depths and speeds within the metal
itself. The result is often a slow, bass heavy,
smeared sound.
Most
Binding Posts have a heavy plating of gold over
a nickel substrate. This is often a cause of
poor sound quality as electrons flow through
3 dissimilar metals with differing electrical
and conductive properties.
Furthermore,
most binding posts are secured with a nut that
has a detrimental affect on electron flow.
The
solution:
The new CablePod™ solves the problems
of standard Binding Posts and provides a faster,
cleaner signal of high purity and detail.
To
achieve this we use:
•
A contact element machined from either high-purity
Tellurium Copper (over 90% IACS) or pure Silver
(106% IACS) to ensure maximum conductivity.
This provides up to 320% greater conductivity
than gold plated brass binding posts.
• A contact element of ideal thickness
and mass – to support current flow and
to minimize skin effect problems
• Direct 24k gold plating (on the Tellurium
Copper CablePod™) to prevent oxidation
– and not to influence sound quality.
• A high strength polymer molded thread
that insulates the conductive element from the
securing nut.
